We're Having a Hay Ride!!

Get your warm clothes out and maybe your boots provided the 8" of snow forcasted for Wednesday stays around for awhile.

We will be meeting at the Coffee House at 5:30pm on Saturday, October 14th, to Car Pool out to the Drevlow Farm. There will be hotdogs and smores provided for us and we will be joined by the Rev so it should be a great time.

Just wanted to remind you guys that See you at the Pole is coming up. It will be Wednesday, September 27th. I am not sure what time the High School or College are holding theirs, but I will be at VCA with Chance at 8:00am if anyone wants to join us.

Also, a Shameless Plug as Pastor Al calls them. VCA does alot of Fundraising to try to keep the cost of school down. You will be happy to know that I opted to pay the extra money so I didn't have to fundraise so you don't have to be afraid that I will be hitting you up all the time. BUT, Friday October 6th VCA is having a Fundraiser at Pizza Hut from 4-7pm. Everyone who gives a coupon to a Pizza Hut employee during these hours will have 20% of their total bill donated to VCA. So, I guess we all know where the Leadership Meeting food is coming from don't we????

I have coupons if anyone is interested.

On a Sad Note

I talked to the Hermantown Community Church today and found out that the Dr. Dino Seminar has been cancelled due to unknown reasons (at least they are unknow to me).

Friday night, September 29th will be our last night with Dr. Dino. Now that we all know how old the earth is and when exactly the dinosaurs roamed, it is time to move on. It has been a great learning experience and has definitely made us think. Thanks Obergs!!!

Adopt a Highway Clean-up Time

Yep folks, it is that time of year again. Time to take care of our baby. The particular two miles of Highway that we "own" is located on Highway 37 a few miles past Cherry.

We will be cleaning the Highway on Saturday, October 7th at 10:00am with food and fun to follow.

Following the "meet & greet" of the Pastor and his family on Saturday, July 22nd, David and I wanted to have ALL RUSTPROOF over to our house for a Bonefire & Grilling Party.

The Leadership meeting will be over by 3:00pm so we thought if everyone wants to come over about 5:00pm or so that would be great.

I will post directions on the blog later this week. Hope you guys can make it, it has been a long time coming!!!!

Rustproof Leadership

As most of you know, Pastor Dave will be coming to our church next Sunday, July 23rd, to candidate for the Senior Pastor position. There is a time on Saturday morning set aside for the congregation to meet him and his family. I am not exactly sure what that time is, I think it is 10:30am.

Anyway, from 1-3 Saturday afternoon will be a time for leadership of the church to meet Pastor Dave and ask questions and just get to know him and his beliefs, dreams, desires for our church should he be voted in. Rustproof leadership is invited. If you aren't sure who you are, I have given a list to the board and you should be getting an invite this week sometime.

Summer Plans

Hey guys...we had a great meeting last night and came up with some really cool plans for the summer. Here are the highlights of the meeting.

Memorial Day Bash at the Oberg's

Meet at the Coffee House on Monday, May 29th at 10:00am. A car or cars will be heading up to the Oberg's Resort on the Echo Trail for a day of fun. BYOBeverage, swimming stuff and anything else you think you might need.

DDR Nite Friday, June 9th

We will start DDR at the Coffee House at 7:00pm. Come ready to dance (1st Assembly style). Also, there will be no Bible Study this nite.

As of June 9th (DDR Nite) Rustproof will be moving to a new time. Bible Study will be starting at 7:00pm and the Coffee House will be open until 11:00pm.

PLEASE! DON"T SING THAT SONG ANYMORE!

Our 2nd DDR Night was a Blast. Even the "Old People" did a couple exibition dances. In fact, Al actually attempted to fill in for an even numbered slot in the Standard Division. For reasons of Good Taste & Propriety, we WILL NOT show you pics or video of THAT foolishness. Instead, please enjoy a couple of these highlights from the evening.

We warmed up three at a time. Several players opted to move up a level. Others tried DDR for the first time. Way to Go!

With Temps expected below Zero, we didn't have quite the response we needed for Saturday's Side Lake deal, so here's the new plan...

We'll have the Crock Pot full of Sloppy Joes, a bunch of Chips & Salsa, and Some Hot Chocolate in the Thermos.

The games will be out, the DDR pads will litter the basement floor, and if anyone is REAL brave, we can still journey to a rink or hill IN HIBBING to get our cold weather fix in. (Seriously, I'll go out if you will...)

DDR Night at the Coffee House

Dance Dance Revolution!

We're setting up a couple of pads, a nice big screen, and we're going to Dance the Night Away.

Here's the particulars:

Where: The Coffee House on the 1st AG Parking Lot

When: Friday, Feb 24th.

Open Practice Hour starts at 9 pm.
At Ten, we'll do a Tournament Draw.
Right now, we're planning for a "Beginner" and "Light" Division, but if talent level warrants, we can have a "Standard" or "Heavy" Draw as well.

We will be using Ultramix 3 for X-Box for the Tourney Games.

Play is for bragging rights, but we may score a couple small prizes, just to keep it interesting.

The Coffee House & DDR Night is open to all young adults. (18-late 20's) We also have Pool, Foos, Darts, etc. so bring a friend.

The night started with a couple of warm-up acts. The first was roadie with a guitar, whose name I forget. The second was a bit of a punk group called Eleventy-Seven. Even though their name sounded like something Bilbo would say at his birthday party, I liked them because for the last song they did “Blitzkrieg Bop” by the Ramone’s. (c. 1977) I loudly sang along, drawing enough stares from the young fry to force an extended exile in the balcony.

Seventh Day Slumber was pretty good, and brought an important, sincere message of hope to the crowd. Next, KJ-52 took the stage.

KJ-52 gets the crowd going.

Seriously, I don’t even LIKE Hip-Hop stuff, but he was great. He had the place rocking. Even us Geriatrics up top we’re doin’ the hand-wave junk.

I especially liked one of his lines from the “Mt Dew Song”….
“I like Homestar Runner… Best Web Site Ever…”

Confession: That was actually the only line I understood.

Shattered Assembly waits for Superchic(k) to take the stage.

Then it was time for the Headliners. In the past four years, the young band has just gotten better.Better vocals, better lyrics, just as much energy as ever...

As promised, our special guests Friday Night were Larry & Jenny Clair, Rustproof Leaders September 2000-August 2005. They were in town for a quick visit, and stopped by to say hello.

Friday Nights, we're taking a look at what the Bible has to say on the subject of Integrity.

C'mon out, bring a Bible. (If you don't have one or you forget, don't worry. We always have some hanging around.) Talk if you like, or just listen, if that's your thing.

Stick around for Pool, Coffee, Foos, or whatever. The Coffee House opens right after the Bible Study at 9 pm.

Sunday Mornings, we're studying the Book of Galatians. (good stuff...)
Come downstairs, grab a donut, and find the table with all the Rustproof people. (You can't miss us.)

Stay for church, at 10:30, if you'd like. It's a great place to experience more of God in your life, and you might even see some Rustproofers up there on the Worship band....
